Come start off the New Year with our first ESS of 2020. Fort Worth YCP is honored to have William Stigall, MD, MA - Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Physician and Bioethicist come and discuss his topic: Oxytocin, Love, and Other Drugs: How Natural Science Supports Natural Law.
William Stigall, MD, MA
William Stigall is a pediatric cardiac critical care physician and bioethicist. He graduated with a
BBA in Business Honors from UT-Austin and a MD from UT-Southwestern in Dallas. He continued
medical training in Dallas at UT-Southwestern for pediatric residency, chief residency, pediatric
critical fellowship, and chief fellowship. He then completed an additional fellowship year in pediatric
cardiac critical care at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix. He practices in the
Pediatric ICU at Cook Children’s in Ft. Worth where he is also Director of Human Research
Protection. He is on the clinical faculty for the TCU School of Medicine in Pediatrics and Ethics.
Dr. Stigall loves pediatric critical care because this is the area of medicine that can most
positively affect the lives of sick children using principles of physiology through the application of
technology. He feels truly blessed to be able to help patients and families at times of tremendous
During residency and fellowship, Dr. Stigall obtained a Master’s in Philosophy from the
University of Dallas. He has been a member and chair of multiple bioethics committees and has
taught Bioethics at the University of Dallas since 2012. His current philosophical interests include the
interaction of mind and body, the social nature of man, and philosophy of medicine.
Dr. Stigall and his wife, Kathryn, were married in 2001, serendipitously on the feast day of the
nativity of Our Lady. They are converts to Catholicism and came into the Church Easter of 2004.
They have been blessed with 3 sons, John, 14; James, 5; and Peter, 3. John, James, and Peter are
living proof that man’s soul is rational from its very beginnings and goodness has infinite variety. The
Stigall family enjoys reading, travel, running, tennis, and any excuse to get outdoors.
